   Ellen Davis was born in Pensacola, Florida. She earned her BA Degree in Fine Art (with Honors and Distinction in Art) at San Diego State University in 1993 with an emphasis in Painting, Printmaking and Photography. She continued her graduate studies at San Diego State as well as attending the Department of Humanities of Tijuana, B.C., Mexico and the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, Tecate, B.C., Mexico.

   Ellen studied Ceramics at Mesa College, Grossmont College and at the UCSD Crafts Center. She has taken numerous classes and workshops with highly recognized Ceramic Artists such as : John Conrad, Lana Wilson, Les Lawrence, Byron Temple, Otto Heino, Paul Soldner, Michael Sherrill, Takeshi Yasuda, Richard Meyers and others, too numerous to mention.

   Ellen has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in California and Mexico. She has received awards, honors and scholarships for her work. She is a member of various Arts organizations: M.Artes, Tijuana, B.C., Mexico, North County Artist Co-op, San Diego Museum of Art Artist’s Guild, North County Printmakers, Escondido Arts Partnership and of course The San Diego Potters’ Guild.  

   Ellen creates functional and non-functional work. She fires at different temperatures: lowfire (saggar and pitfire ware), Cones 6-10 (oxidation, reduction, crystal). She feels privileged to explore and co-create with the magic of clay, which continues to delight and excite the child in her.
