I hold a B.A. in art and two teaching credentials.
My greatest loves are children and all forms of the arts. I have an
interest in facades and buildings, masks and people. This is reflected in
decorative surfaces on my ceramic work.
The majority of the designs on the sides of my work are hand carved one of
a kind. I use no stencils, they originate from my own drawings. Some of the
faces on my mugs are made with crude carving tools. Then I make a press mold
to duplicate them. The end product would cost too much if I did each one
from scratch.
The past few years I have been working with my brother-in law who is a muralist.
We do both murals and faux finishes. This has stimulated my drawing and painting
skills. This in turn influences my ceramic work. I have exhibited in
many ceramic shows in Southern California and in Arizona in the past receiving,
several awards and an honorable mention.
Question: What is behind the facade?
