Dot was born in Kilauea, Kauai,
Hawaii. She received her B. Ed. from the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.
She is a member of the Allied Craftsmen of San Diego and the San Diego Potters'
Guild. She has been an active potter since the 1970's. New techniques and forms continually stimulate Dot's interest in clay. She is fascinated with shapes and forms and how they work together with color and texture. The surface textures and glazes are influenced by ancient Chinese bronzes, weathering influences of water and wind on stone and lichen and mosses. "As in the Taoist concept of Ying and Yang, I need to balance the bold "Yang" forms with the more delicate "Ying" forms."
