Roberta received her BA from Comell University. She studied drawing, painting, design and anatomy  at the School of Visual Arts and the Arts Students League in NYC. She got her MA from Columbia University in Painting and Art Education.

Roberta took her first ceramics class from Elsbeth Woody while getting her Masters in painting and art education at Columbia University and with some other potters built a catenary arch cross-draft kiln in upstate New York. She moved to London in 1972 and worked as a studio potter in ceramics studios there. She was introduced to Bernard Leach at his retrospective at the V&A Museum. He asked her about her work and said, "Have fun!"

In the 70's, Roberta was in and out of San Diego. She took glaze chemistry at the USCD Craft Center and fired at Rhoda Lopez's Clay Dimensions. She moved here in 1979.

She has a small studio where she works in porcelain and stoneware producing what she hopes is well-crafted, handsomely designed functional ware and individual pieces. Form and subtle surface interest her. She enjoys making pots that give a little bit of pleasure in daily life
