Ceramic artist, Lisa Maher, creates one-of-a-kind, wheel thrown
and sculptured objects.
Her current interest includes combining hand-built and wheel-thrown
forms, developing objects with a wide variety of shapes and finishes – creating
both non-functional and functional art. She utilizes various firing temperatures
– low fire (saggar and pit fire ware - Cone 06-10), oxidation and reduction
– while using a variety of glazes on white stoneware.
For the past ten years, Maher has shown her work in several group shows throughout
the country. Her work has been published in Lark Books (Low Fire Surface
Decoration, Ceramic Design Book, Alternative Kilns and Firing Techniques).
Maher was featured in The Best of New Ceramic Art.
Maher earned an AA Degree in Fine Arts from San Diego Mesa College. Her studio
is located in La Jolla, California.
