Pat took her first clay class from Elizabeth Woolrych and she was hooked. Pat has been working with clay for about ten years. Since retiring after 38 years with the San Diego Unified School District. She continues to take classes and participates in workshops whenever possible. Pat has developed a workspace at home.Although Pat does throw on the wheel and makes functional ware, she really enjoys handbuilding. Her recent pots are coil built, paddled smooth and burnished with a rock, then saggar fired in seaweed.Pat believes everyone is creative, you just have to submit to it. Being a tactile and visual learner, Pat feels clay is a very tangible medium for expressing creativity.EXHIBITIONS:Angelo State University Ceramic Invitational, San Angelo, Texas 1999Ceramic Artists of San Diego, Juried Show, Signature Gallery, Del Mar, CA 1999Mesa College Gallery, Mesa College 1999“Illuminaries in Clay”, Sunstone Gallery, La Jolla, CA 1998 |
