Eric currently teaches ceramics full time at Coronado High School here in San Diego. He feels that he works in clay because it continually asks questions of him. As a full time ceramics teacher he believes the search for answers allows him to ask better questions of his students. He threw his first pot in high school in Lancaster, PA. He went on to get a BFA in ceramics from Penn State University and an MFA in ceramics from San Diego State University. In addition to teaching he works out of his home studio in Lemon Grove.

Eric is drawn to the connections that his finished work makes with other people. Making strong functional pieces that become a part of someone's life is an underlying motivation for him. "We live in an age where machines have replaced many of the handmade objects, which previously added richness to our lives, with objects devoid of meaning. I feel there can be a shift in consciousness of people who use handmade objects. In my case I think this can occur because something of who I am comes out in every pot, and I believe that many people want to connect with that."
