Working with clay has been a life long experience. I threw my first
pot in 1954 and I have been hooked ever since.
Colors in the cone 6 range are not as
bright as low fire, but brighter than cone 10(stoneware). That temperature
range seems to produce the right shades for the work I am now doing.
I am fascinated with hand building in
porcelain and am enthralled with the unlimited shapes that are not possible
to throw on the wheel. The challenge of working with porcelain, which is
very soft clay, is rewarding because it requires experience and patience
to manipulate it into a desired form. Design has also been a strong interest
and I find I can expand my ideas on the platters I am now making.
