Amy Threefoot Valeiras
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Amy’s interest in pottery began early with summer classes at the clay studio next to her mother’s weaving shop. She continued her pottery studies through high school, developing her style along the way through classes, workshops, museum visits and travel. Her varied life experiences include living in New Orleans, Boston, San Francisco, London, Philadelphia and now San Diego. Exposure to these different places and cultures affects the essence of and becomes part of her art.
Amy is predominantly a hand builder who works with soft slabs, coils and pinching. She also enjoys using texture and manipulating the clay, creating a sense of movement. “I look forward to always exploring new ways to work, but I notice that past influences – our history - always find their way into the pieces.”
