Searching for and exploring new shapes, textures, and glaze applications and temperatures is a constant goal. Currently my interest is in color, and to achieve the intense colors in glazes that I am looking for, I am firing at the mid range of 2151 degrees. I am approaching glazing in a way similar to painters; applying glazes with energy and spontaneity. For me, hand building with clay is more challenging and satisfying. If I am not painting with glazes on the vessel, I have to leave my mark in other ways by using texture.
